Kajian ini meneliti impak pandemik COVID-19 terhadap kesihatan dan daya tahan populasi di Malaysia dalam beberapa aspek seperti pertumbuhan populasi, kesihatan mental, keutuhan sistem kekeluargaan dan implikasi vaksin. Melalui analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan data sekunder dari pelbagai sumber terbuka, kajian ini mendapati bahawa pandemik COVID-19 mampu mempercepat proses penuaan populasi Malaysia sekiranya tiada tindakan intervensi dilakukan. Secara amnya, tahap daya tahan populasi Malaysia dengan impak COVID-19 adalah lemah dengan berlakunya peningkatan kes-kes berkaitan isu kesihatan mental seperti bunuh diri dan keruntuhan sistem kekeluargaan seperti penderaan dan perceraian. Faktor tekanan ekonomi yang tinggi akibat kehilangan pekerjaan menjadi punca utama yang menyumbang kepada trend-trend tersebut. Program vaksinasi yang telah dijalankan tidak dapat melenyapkan pandemik dengan segera tetapi telah mengurangkan kadar kematian secara signifikan dan membantu dalam peralihan ke fasa endemik.
This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Malaysian population health and resilience in some aspects such as population growth,mental health, family strengths and vaccine implications. Through analysis conducted using secondary data from various open sources, this study found that the COVID-19 pandemic is capable of accelerating the ageing process of Malaysian population if no intervention is carried out. In general, the level of resilience of the Malaysian population to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is weak with an increase in cases related to mental health issues such as suicide and the breakdown of the family system such as abuse and divorce. High economic pressure due to job loss is the main cause that contributes to these trends. The vaccination program that has been carried out cannot eliminate the pandemic immediately but has significantly reduced the death rate and helped in the transition to the endemic phase.
